Property advertised as having a cleaner. Turns out 'cleaner' is the landlord who doesn't come weekly, and only does a very surface level sweep of hallways and kitchen floor (no cleaning of any surfaces, when I arrived there were layers of grime in kitchen and lots of food on side which went off >5 years ago), bathroom got a quick onceover but nothing was cleaned to the level you would expect a professional to do. Therefore, in a house of 6 the levels of dirt are pretty grim and unliveable.
When I moved in many of the freezer / fridge drawers and shelves were broken. I see this as general wear and tear however the landlord would not pay to replace these. Also, he often doesn't give 24 hours notice before entering as is required by law.
Moving out was a mess, he was lying about what's stated in the tenancy agreement and made it very difficult. He also didn't understand the deposit return scheme.
House location was great, and luckily I bargained him down from the £720 / month to £675 and only stayed for my minimum tenancy length.
