Landlord was reluctant to perform repairs or conduct basic maintenance. Refuses to put anything in email or text, only phone calls. When requested to use he email refused and said it was a "waste of time." Had a very poor attitude whenever we did have to speak to him. On more than one occasion said that he was "doing us a favour" by letting us live in his property.
Zero understanding of tenancy law and landlord's rights. We found out near the end of the tenancy that landlord had routinely been letting himself into our apartment while we weren't home and hadn't even informed us. Got caught out because we realised someone had been snooping through our cupboards and had forgotten to close one.
Tried to withhold our deposit and created fake invoices in Microsoft Word. We took it to dispute with DPS and the rightly ruled in our favour and returned our deposit, noting the fake invoices.
