In my town there is a very large housing provider for people who are homeless, with addiction problems and mental health problems, or ex-offenders, where they get support, plenty of chances, and there are always staff a phone call away. This landlord, houses those who's behaviour is so bad, they've been barred from every other hostel and are one step away from the street. I was homeless before I moved in and I felt safer sleeping rough. We had drugs dealt from the house, fights, overdoses. Police round every week. The delightful downstairs neighbour embarked on a year long harassment campaign, but hey, all clouds have a silver lining, it motivated me to save every penny I could until I could leave. Seriously, if you are in a dire enough position to be considering living here, don't do it, it'll drive you crazy.

Public transport is a nightmare, theres only one NHS dentist that takes months to be seen, also takes up to 6 weeks to see a doctor. This town is a town for rich people who can provide private services.

Canary wharf is on your doorstep.

There is a restaurant and cinema on the ground floor.

Well located on the common between Clapham Junction and Clapham South. Near to a huge range of shops, restaurants and bars, as well as the common itself. Only downside of location is the ground floor neighbour is a pain.

Terraced house so bit noisy at times. Mainly residential area, quiet neighbourhood and friendly neighbours. Transport links ok, about 10 mins walk downhill into town, it's going back up the hill to get home with the shopping that's the difficult bit! On street parking sometimes tricky due to local business park employees parking during working hours.

quiet, but bad parking. Close to main bus routes and 20 minutes from city centre. University of Cumbria right behind, Lancaster University around 10-15 bus journey with frequent buses

Just far enough out of town to not be noisy, the street is usually quiet. Some may prefer to be closer to the centre of town.

The walk we were originally taken on to show the house is the long route round that realistically once you'd moved in you never used. The quickest route into town is over the canal in a very dodgy area which I did feel uncomfortable being alone down, do walk this yourself to experience the true area. Equally the alley round the back of the house is not the nicest but you just put the bins there. The Lancaster Bus Station is 15 minutes away so expect a commute to Lancaster Uni of around an hour. Good links to Sainsburys as this is on the way home, corner shop next door useful too for the odd item. Centre of town is approximately 15-20 minutes too, depending on your route. Sugarhouse is 5-10 minutes away. You are living in a residential area so you will be the minority as students, be mindful of screaming children on their way to school!

Close to sugar and Daltons, right next to canal, takeaway, corner shop, Williamson park only a short walk up the hill

Whilst the area is really pretty, and half way between Town and Uni, the transport was a bit naff. We were right next to a bus stop but tended to find that buses would fill up in town and then miss our stop, especially first thing in the morning. You would have to catch the bus for a 9am way before 8am in order to get to uni on time and not keep missing full buses. There were huge floods really close by as well due to heavy rain, although we were lucky in that we were on a hill so nothing came near us.
