Very unresponsive and slow, took months and months to sort out dangerous mould in our kitchen, they took 5 months to approve someone to fix a leak above our housemates bed, does not seem to care about the house or the students living in it

Terrible and awful are kind words to describe purple frog. They are extremely unprofessional, ignorant, disorganised, slow to respond and take their time fixing prominent issues. They didn’t have our keys cut until a week after we moved into our property, and one of our housemates didn’t have her front door key cut until 3 months later. The house was also found in an extremely poor state, purple frog hadn’t looked at it once before we moved in and it was covered in thick, fuzzy black and green mould. We had to beg them to get a cleaner to sort this as they were insistent the property was fine and liveable. We’ve had 4 leaks and 1 serious burst pipe during our tenancy and purple frog were awful. They were extremely unhelpful with the burst pipe, and did not know where the emergency stop button was (it was in a tenants room).

Overpriced, awful structure integrity (mould finds a good breeding ground here), extremely humid house despite using many dehumidifiers and constantly airing it. The worst part is the kitchen, there is no airflow apart from two tiny windows and the extractor fan above the hob merely pumps hot air back into the kitchen. There has been mould proofing done in the kitchen which has slightly helped, but the mould persists. We have had 4 serious leaks and 1 burst pipe during our tenancy, resulting in more moisture locked in the structure of the house. Extremely poor quality refurbishment of this property. It is one problem after another with this house. The actual property looks nice, we like the soundproof walls and the heavy fire doors. There isn’t much cooking or eating space in the kitchen, it’s quite cramped but it can work. Overall, the mould and moisture in the house is a recurring problem that is not going to go away until the landlord puts in some proper ventilation in the kitchen.

Area rating
Has its charms - good places to eat, big student population so always round the corner from a friends house, good location to uni. But not very safe at all, as long as you don’t go out by yourself at night it’s generally fine but there are always creepy men walking around. Very noisy and dirty, always broken glass on the floor and overturned bins. I’ve lived in selly oak for 3 years and it has been fine overall, as a student area it works.
