Tenancy review for 2 Binfield Road in Bracknell, Bracknell rented from Pauline Bird rented via Prospect

This landlord is rude, aggressive and made me feel unsafe in my own home. He refused repairs to make the property safe so I contacted Environmental Health and then he revenge evicted me! I was a good paying, tidy and respectable tenant and was served a Section 21 because I asked for repairs! There were so many issues in the short 6 months I was in the flat. Prospect told me I could use my own white goods so I stored the landlords rusty microwave and broken fridge safely and bought my own. He came to “fix” a leak in the bathroom (he did not fix it) and saw my fridge and went mad, demanding I put his white goods back immediately and expecting me to use his rusty/broken appliances. He was pedantic about everything (wouldn’t even let me put one hook on the back of the bathroom door when there was nowhere to hang towels). He didn’t fix the leak in the bathroom until I contacted Environmentally Health, the hob light was broken before I moved in, he wouldn’t tell me the paint colour for slight touch ups but tried to take £600 of my deposit for complete redecoration which was completely unjustified. He will not put a penny into the house and will only carry out vital repairs if you complain to Environmental Health and he is told he has to. I am currently fighting him for my deposit and he is trying to charge me for things that are evidentially on the inventory from before I even moved in! He is a very rude, greedy and unreasonable man. Definitely not someone you would want as a landlord!

Prospect Holdings are the worst letting agent I’ve ever dealt with. Their customer service is awful. They told me a pack of lies to fill a vacant property, ignored repairs requests so I had to go to Environmental Health, even ignored an official complaint until I emailed the managing director. They tell the landlord one thing and the tenant another to make themselves look good, at the expense of the landlord/tenant relationship. Because they would not deal with any of the issues I had at the property and were rude and unhelpful, I had to go to Environmental Health and that is why the landlord evicted me by a Section 21 after only 4 months in the flat. They didn’t care me and my child were forced out of our home and didn’t even help us try to find somewhere else to live. I paid my rent and looked after the place and all Prospect did was lie about the EPC to get me into the property, say I could put my own white goods in and then send me a rude email saying I had to put the landlords back immediately and ignore me when I reported issues like a leak in the bathroom (that I had to get my own plumber in to look at!) They conveniently moved me in a day earlier, before the law changed and they couldn’t let a property with the EPC rating of mine. They also conveniently lost call recordings when I said I wanted to raise a complaint. I would never use them again and strongly recommend no one else does!

1 bed ground floor flat in Bracknell, very dark as tree blocks light from living room window and bathroom and kitchen windows back onto fencing/house next door. Cheap paint, cheap appliances, shower screen stuck down so difficult to get in and out of the bath/shower. Off busy main road, communal postbox, terrible ground maintenance, rubbish and wires everywhere

The area was OK, not too far from town and close to a nice park. I didn’t have an issue with where I was living, just the fact that I had a rude, aggressive landlord and the letting agents were useless
