Tenancy review for 169 Marlborough Road in Brompton, Gillingham rented via Greenleaf Property Services

Twice they tried to increase my rent in direct contravention of my tenancy agreement. Then they wanted £150 in order for me to move to a statutory periodic tenancy. They then tried to evict me because I would not agree to the (illegal) rent increase. They never responded to my complaint against this eviction attempt, and when I attempted to make a formal complaint to The Property Ombudsman, they quickly became unregistered from the scheme, and were not actually registered with any Redress Scheme (this by itself is liable to a fine of up to £5000).

The property was a maisonette on the top two storeys of a four storey converted house. Two-bedroomed, it suffered from tired, dated decor. The carpets were as effective as hair shavings glued on to paper. There was a mice infestation which the agent never managed to fix.

The flats in the building next door were used by a Romanian family as an illegal waste transfer station for the waste materials and goods that their women with buggies stole from gardens. Otherwise, the view over the Lines was good.
