Tenancy review for 9 Palatine View in Nevilles Cross, Durham rented via Evenmore Properties

Easy to contact, full of promises, few if any promises were delivered and then slowly. Unfair/incorrect reports at the end of tenancy.

6 bedrooms, 3 in attic, 2 of which had velux windows only, with broken blinds. These rooms were freezing cold in winter, too warm in summer. 1 bathroom with a shower which was leaking through the floor into the shower room below, reported on moving in, repaired weeks later. Kitchen was filthy on arrival desire assurance it has been cleaned. Yard was filthy and full of rubbish. Soil pipe from upstairs leaking through cracked join into the yard. All reported to evenmore, nothing done.
Bedrooms barely clean with some new mattresses which we sorely wished we'd photographed before starting tenancy and at the end. Despite all students and parents thoroughly cleaning the whole house and there being no new damage, evenmore refused to give us back our deposits, starting that a mattress had been stained, which it hadn't, but having moved out we had no way of proving it. All parents and students wrote and complained at the treatment, the pot response from evenmore all year and the erroneous charge of a stained mattress which required changing. We managed to get some of the deposit back but it should have been the whole lot.
I would have written this review a year ago had I known about this site,we all wanted to warn future students/tenants to be very wary of evenmore and to take lots of dated photos as proof of the state their house on entering and again on leaving their tenancy. As a parent I would avoid this agency in Durham, the agents in the previous and subsequent years were very fair in comparison

Safe, well lit area, good neighbourhood, easy access to city centre, uni and shops etc. Parking for 2 cars with permits.
