Landlord review for Wendy Garrett, Aberdeen

Landlord rating: 1
This was the worst landlord I’ve ever had. Overbearing and unreasonable to say the least. She repeatedly showed up to the property unannounced and would let herself in. She dictated to me where I was allowed to keep my belongings after I moved in - and yelled at me on one occasion. Repairs were performed by her husband and his tool box. The toilet began to leak shortly after I moved in and wasn’t fixed by the time I moved out two months later. I was a first year student at the time and on two occasions this woman called my parents to complain about me - once because I had asked her to remove furniture that was not in the property when I signed the lease and I had been told I could bring my own furniture at the first viewing, and a second time when I had told her I was moving out to threaten my dad with a lawyer despite the fact I was still paying the rent as per the agreement until I found a replacement tenant for my room. I’ve been renting for 4 years since I lived there and not once have I met someone as awful as she was.

Property review for 26 Spital, George Stharbour, Aberdeen

Property rating: 3
There’s one massive room in this house, 3 okay sized rooms and 2 box rooms. The house is decorated appallingly with dizzying striped thin carpet and weird decals all over the place. The back door didn’t lock properly. One of the couches was so low you’d be better sitting on the floor. The landlord is overbearing to the point that I was yelled at for putting my stuff in the bathroom after I’d moved in and paid my first months rent already. She promised me that it was okay to bring my own furniture and then a week before I moved in she changed her mind on this and filled my bedroom with random things (two armchairs and a coffee table?) which I had to convince her to remove again. When I requested to leave the property she charged me illegal admin fees.

Area review for George Stharbour, Aberdeen

Area rating: 3
The property is within a 5 minute walk of the uni which is fantastic but also means you’re surrounded by other students and extremely loud parties went on well past freshers. Over 100 people were in the house joined to this one while I lived there and the noise was so loud even from the second floor of the house that it felt like the party was happening centimetres from me. The neighbours would leave bags of rubbish in the garden and outside the front of the house, they puked and peed all over the entryway, across the street people would put speakers out of their windows and blast music until 4am. I didn’t sleep properly even one night that I lived here.
