He’s a nice guy and sorted out repairs, but at the end of the day, he charged £895 a month for an awful one-room flat next to a nightclub. He also charged us cleaning costs to clean the curtains that covered the one opening window and accused us of smoking in the flat when the smoke damage was obviously from the smoking area below.

Only one window in the property opened - directly onto the smoking area of the nightclub next door, which was conveniently not mentioned prior to move in. Walls cracking from water damage from the flat upstairs. At one point, the water began to flood through the ceiling. The building is listed with the Royal Mail as the landlord’s engineering business and there was confusion as to which flat was which.

Nightclub next door. Smoking area right outside bedroom window. Very close to a Tesco and a quick walk to the Riverside and the train station.
