Rogue Landlords & Crumbling Property

Landlord rating
This landlord is borderline a complete scammer and the way they operate is bordering on illegal. Firstly we have never been given contact information for them as they use a management company (that they set up). We had lots of problems when we moved into their property and asked to speak to them directly and they out right refused to talk to us.
They don’t seem to want to fix any problems that arise in their properties, and when they do it can sometimes takes forever. We spent a year sleeping on a mattress on the solid floor because they couldn’t be bothered to fix or buy a new bed after ours collapsed.
The management company is called Cohab Services. They are awful to deal with. They seem to have employed the most incompetent people to run the maintenance of the property. Like I said, they left us on the floor for a whole year. We had a problem with rats inside the walls behind the bed. They eventually refused to solve the problem in an email. We had a leak behind the wall in the bathroom that was causing large amounts of mould to grow. We reported it in December 2023 and it was not fixed and remained a problem when we left. The electrics in the building were broken, lights didn't work and the fire alarm system was broken constantly. They were condescending and argumentative to us via email and over the phone and we felt like they did not care about the maintenance and upkeep of the property let alone the health of those inside.
When we left, we celebrated the end of a long stretch of turmoil caused by these landlords.

7-10 Lawford Street, Lawrence Hill, Bristol

The property was utterly horrendous. The electrics didn’t work correctly, the fire alarm system was always broken and the mould was the worst I’ve ever seen in my life.
The room was a good size and the proximity to the city was good but this is all it had going for itself. It was clearly unloved by the landlord and left to rot over the years they have owned it.
The washing machines were located in a basement. They had tumble dryers that had no vent to the outside. This caused mould to grow on the floors, ceilings, walls and doors. They whole basement was black with mould and it would stop you from breathing when walking down there. The mould needed up in our room, in the bathroom and around the bed. I started developing respiratory problems due to it. Since moving out I have been feeling better.
Rats found their way into the building as the landlord had never bothered to fix holes around the property. They also refused to solve the rodent problem, leaving us to live with them.
This is the worst property I have ever lived in, the state of the place made me unwell both physically and mentally and the landlords had no respect and no desire to fix things. I absolutely regret ever moving into the property. Stay well away from Cohab Services and Rupinder Mahill.

Area rating
The area seems to be riddled with crime these days. We’ve had our car broken into and I narrowly avoided a mugging within 200m of the front door.
It does have a good close proximity to the city centre which is a bonus but the area is so run down it’s really not worth it. I never felt safe walking at night around this area and was always on edge.
